Hi! My name is Jonathan and welcome back to the Abington Public Library for APL Book Bites, a new program here at the APL where we review some of our favorite books and more.

This time I’ve brought with me a personal favorite of mine, Daytripper by Fabio Moon and Gabriel Ba. Published as a ten issue mini-series between 2010 and 2011, this graphic novel marks a pivotal point in the pair's careers. The series won the Will Eisner Comic Industry Award for Best Limited Series in 2011 and received accolades from esteemed writers and artists like Gerard Way and Craig Thompson. The story follows the life of Bras de Olivias Dominguez and his many deaths. Each issue is a vignette of a small but integral part of Bras’ life and each chapter ends with his death at the ends of various means. Fabio Moon and Gabriel tell a tale of joy and sorrow and everything in-between creating characters that come to life. Following the entire life of one man allows these storytellers to show the change and growth of an individual over decades. Now the art in this book is phenomenal. It's incredibly stylized, creating an experience for the reader more so than a grounded clear cut image of the moment in time. Daytripper is my favorite graphic novel we have on our shelves and maybe my favorite of all time. Definitely a worthy inclusion to your to be read list.

This has been APL Book Bites, brought to you by the Abington Public Library and we’ll see you next time! Bye!
