Eight ordinary people. One extraordinary choice. This is the tagline for the newest entry into the APL Book Bites collection - The Measure by Nikki Erlick. One random day, everybody all over the world, 22 years and older receives a mysterious wooden box. Each box contains a length of rope that represents the recipient's lifespan. What follows is a world thrown into a frenzy. Everyday people are suddenly faced with their impending mortality literally knocking at their front door. After this global upset, the plot follows eight individuals' interwoven lives as they adapt to the new status quo.

Nikki Erlick’s career expands from a travel writer exploring the world one country at a time to ghostwriter for influential academics and entrepreneurs, but this is her debut novel and what a debut it is. You can find The Measure in our fiction stacks under ERL.
