Hi! My name is Jonathan. Welcome back to the Abington Public Library and APL Book Bites, where we review some of our favorite books and more.

Here we have the latest in our short story collection, The Best American Short Stories 2025 which features the best of the American short stories for the year of 2024. The editor for this year is author Celeste Ng known for Little Fires Everywhere and Our Missing Hearts which was featured in our Asian Voices Book Club this year. The collection of talented American writers is enough of a sell for me, but for those skeptics out there, there is a New Englander in the mix. Lauren Acampora, a Connecticut native herself, is the first featured short story in the collection with her piece “Dominion” previously published in the New England Review. Everyone should take a gander at this collection as well as our extensive back log of not only the Best American Short Stories but The Pushcart Prize: Best of the Small Presses and miscellaneous genre anthologies.
