Kids Events

Aside from the Story Hours we offer in the Children’s Room, we are pleased to offer Lego Club, Crafternoons, the Preschool Playgroup,  Family Fun Nights and other fun events that happen (think Snowflake Workshop.) And we have plenty of games should you just want to hang with family and friends for an impromtu part of your day.

Winter Reading Challenge 

January 1, 2024 - February 29, 2024

winter reading program  Yes indeed- we believe that Reading Takes You Everywhere. And we were so successful as a community logging our reading this summer that we thought we would toss out a winter challenge for all those looking to start the new year Reading. Once again we will be using Readsquared to log our minutes. If you have registered before you should be able to easily access your account and get to logging. This Winter Reading Challenge is for all ages. And if you are not able to log online we will gladly take your time here in the library. 

 

Thursday, February 22

Barn Babies Returns     1:00, 1:30    BOTH SESSIONS AND THE WAIT LIST ARE FULL!

Everyone's favorite petting zoo returns to the library on Thursday, February 22nd! Barn Babies is 30 minutes of cuddling and playing with the cutest baby farm animals which may include: kittens, puppies, bunnies, pigs, and (if we're lucky) a goat in a diaper! Participants can choose to attend either the 1:00 PM session or the 1:30 PM session. Registration is required and begins on February 15th. We will be doing in-person registration on February 15th, 16th, and 17th. If there is still space available we will take sign-ups over the phone and email beginning on Tuesday, Feburary 20th. This program is for all ages. Barn Babies is made possible by the the J.L. Bumpus fund.

 

 

Thursday, February 29th 

 Family Lego Night @  6:30 PM

It doesn't matter if you are 8 or 80.  There is something magical and freeing about snapping those Lego bricks together to create something new, so cast your work and worries aside for an hour and join us for some building time. We will also have some larger Duplo blocks available for our younger friends who might not be Lego-ready yet.  Families and family-like groups of ALL ages are welcome to attend.  Challenge a neighbor!  Bring a friend!  Declare a Lego War!    

(This is not just for children but all children must be accompanied by an adult.)  Registration is appreciated but drop-ins are welcome!

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Monday, March 11th 

Little Bee Yoga @ 1:30 - 2:15

Children ages 3-5 and their adults are invited to a kid-friendly yoga class! Christine Walker from the Little Bee Yoga Company will be at the library to run a 45-minutes yoga class geared towards our littlest library users. This class will incorporate cardio conditioning, fun music, stories, and teach children the benefits of traditional yoga: meditation, breathing techniques, peace and relaxation. Services provided by a certified and insured Children’s Yoga instructor. All participants will need to bring a yoga mat/towel and to wear comfy clothes! Registration is required and begins on March 4th. This program is funded by the Friends of the Library.

 

 

 

Wednesday March 13th 

Lego Club @ 3:45

Ready...Set...Lego! Kids in Kindergarten and up are invited to join Mr. Jonathan for an 45  minutes of creativity and building. Please note that space is limited. Plan to arrive a few minutes early to reserve a spot. Pre-registration is not required.
