Let's Talk: A Civic Hub Grant
The Abington Public Library is pleased to have been awarded an LSTA Civic Hub Grant called "Let's Talk" which will allow us to provide programming to promote civil discourse around social and civic issues. These programs and events are supported by grant funds from the Institute of Museum and Library Services as administered by the Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners.

A new database of digital books in World Languages, for children to enjoy books and learn language through storytelling. The platform provides over 3000+ digital books in 65+ languages together with English translations. New books and languages are released each month, so stay tuned!

Drum to the Beat with Otha Day
We're thrilled to announce the return of Otha Day and his “Drum to the Beat” drum circle to kick-off our performer line-up this summer! No experience is needed and everyone will have a chance to create their own unique rhythm. This event is open to all ages. Registration is required and begins on June 10th. We require walk-in registration for the first three days, and will begin taking sign-ups over the phone or email on Thursday, June 13th.

Japanese Folktales and Origami Workshop with Motoko 2:00
Join award-winning storyteller Motoko for an afternoon of Japanese folktales followed by an origami workshop. Motoko begins with delightful folktales from her native Japan, and then provides step-by-step instructions make the ancient Japanese art fun and accessible. Children will learn focus, imagination, and precision while creating pieces of art. This program is geared towards children entering kindergarten and up. Registration is required and begins on July 10th. Tales from African Traditions with Valerie Tutson 11:15
Drawing from her own travels, internationally known storyteller Valerie Tutson brings to life an assortment of myths, folktales and historical accounts from the African continent and the African Diaspora. Tailoring the material to the grade level of her audience, she shows students the beauty, humor and wisdom of tales which help to illuminate parts of the diverse and ancient cultures of Africa.
